(Capital) ED-class Battlecruiser
A heavy warship in service with the ATIS Imperial Navy. ED-class Battlecruisers are based on the legendary 'Endeavour' hull designs dating back nearly a thousand cycles. The current iteration is essentially an upgraded Pattern 6 (S6) ED-AX, which itself is based on the highly successful Pattern 5A (S5A) which originally entered service with the UTN Federal Navy in 4003 A.D.

|| Description:
ED-class battlecruisers make up the heavy strike capability of the ATIS Imperial Navy. During the Unification Act of 4402 A.D, the Aquarian Federal Navy's Fleet of existing Endeavour-S5A and newer S6 class Battlecruisers was inherited by the AIN, upgraded and converted into the Pattern 7 (S7) variant which serves as the baseline of the ED-class, continuing the Endeavour's long and proud service history well into the 5th millennium.
There are significant changes/upgrades from the Pattern 5A and 6 variants. Most notable is the new control tower located under the ventral side of the stern, overlooking the main hangar. On previous Patterns, this tower also housed the Ship's bridge and primary Combat Information Centre (CIC), however, on Pattern 7 vessels the Bridge and CIC were relocated to the armoured citadel at the bow of the ship with new, upgraded electromagnetic shielding protection. The class's distinctive mast now contains the ship's powerful SPARTAN Sensor Suite; which must be sufficiently far from the superstructure to prevent harmful interference. In addition, the mast contains the control tower for the warship's strike craft squadrons.
Major upgrades were made essentially all primary and secondary systems. Notable upgrades include a new shield modulator, 'Supernova' powerplant and capacitor grid for the main weapon systems. The main A-type battery armament was upgraded to a full compliment of IMPAC (Ion-Maser Particle Accelerator Cannons) to take advantage of the increased power supply. Secondary armament was upgraded with the HAL3 upgrade to the Heavy Laser Cannon platform featured on many previous terrain ships, these high-powered Laser Cannons provide effective short to mid-range anti-frigate defence, or precision targeting of subsystems on larger vessels in CQC ranges. Furthermore, the PDS was upgraded with the CIWS Clusterfire that is standard on most Aquarian warships. The warship's bow-mounted Hornet LRM bays were removed to allow for two additional weapons capacitor banks, but the warship still retains the 4x 12-bay and 24-bay L/MRM bays capable of deploying both Rapier MRMs and the larger Hornet LRM.
The Spinal armament is changed significantly. Pattern 7 ED-class battlecruisers forego the class's historic kinetic accelerator cannons in favour of a IMPAC Salvo Array specifically built for this class. The Dual, quad-linked IM1-AX IMPAC Salvo Cannons are capable of a high sustained rate of fire at the expense of Pulse Length. The new weapon system is optimised specifically for destroying fast-moving capital ships at medium to long-range.
By 4 I.D.S, the AIN's ED-class Fleet was fully upgraded to Pattern 7, and at the first scratch-built hulls were laid down.
