Now that I've started doing WCG like a hobby (no kidding, I love it. I feel like I have purpose...) I really do need stability with my PC. And unfortunately, the constant driver crashing and system lockups with my Radeon RX 5700 have forced my hand, I will now sell that card to my friend and use my RX 590 which will hopefully be more stable.
If not, I will have no choice but to buy an Nvidia GPU; since the GTX 770 in my Ryzen 7 2700 PC has been absolutely rock solid. I am 85% sure it is a display driver issue, as the screen freezes and the system requires a hard reboot; taking with it dozens of hours of WCG tasks and potentially even uploading corrupted tasks to the server.
That is unacceptable to me. So this is the way it wil have to be. It saddens me that AMD really haven't sorted this absolute fustercluck out - I've had to disable HW Acel for apps like Discord & Firefox since launch in July last year and it's still not fixed - and the lockups just add insult to injury.
Even one lockup in 48 Hrs is one bloody lockup too many when you rely on stability 24/7.
If the RX 590 exhibits this issue, I'll probably buy a GTX 1660 Super. Don't want to waste money on high end graphics cards, I'd rather buy a 3950X. That way, I can put my 3700X in another PC and have even more processing power for Science.
