Yes, I'm breaking my goddamn rule about no "current affairs" or "world events", especially regarding this COVID-19 pandemic. This pissed me off so much, I had to. I have to get my voice out there. Deal with it.
This woman, a self-proclaimed "scientist", Dolores Cahill:
I don't have words to describe how pissed off, angry and disgusted I am with this woman and her 'content' that she is spoon feeding the delusional sheep 'followers' on this degenerative social media platform. Let's take a look at some of the content, shall we? Content that claims COVID-19 isn't real, that it's not a pandemic, and that there is no reason for the lockdown, or any social distancing measures at all.
If that didn't set off alarm bells ringing, then I really don't know what is wrong with you. I am not going to just sit here and talk about how blatantly misinformed this woman and her affiliate organisations' 'guidance' is, I am going to ask that you visit that page, and you read the content, and you come to your own conclusion because I simply do not have words to describe how passionately furious I am that she has the audacity, the ignorance, to publicly declare these lies as fact - especially in the face of the damage to peoples' lives this Pandemic has caused. However, in the spirit of the Tools series, I'm going to approach some of these 'claims', especially by her delusional followers and rebuke them with logic and reason. So I will write a piece on that now. I was going to do a step-by-step Tools Editions on every single fucking comment and claim, but I really can't be bothered. In fact, this has already ruined my day ever since my mum sent me this link from her delusional friend at work - who subscribes to this bullshit.
Okay here goes.
Firstly, many of the comments and claims are based on an assumption that SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes the COVID-19 disease) is biologically identical to Influenza (Flu), in how it functions, its virulence (contagiousness, types of transmission), etc. During the early stages of the pandemic, there were indeed fewer deaths, but the scope of the infection rate of COVID-19 due to the increased transmissibility and the huge variation in observed symptoms (carriers that spread can have no symptoms at all) creates a much more severe situation than a mere flu outbreak.
How this woman can seriously claim that COVID-19 is a 'seasonal illness' that is no worse in severity or impact to flu, is both disgusting and, honestly, shakes my faith in humanity. This woman has so many followers spewing devoted nonsense to this cause of 'freedom'; it is clear that the brainwashing is significant. I never really respected the cognitive capabilities of the common social media user, but if every day people are this delusional, gullible and frankly, stupid, then the bar is indeed lower than I thought.
This woman and her organisation and affiliates are claiming that no form of lockdown is necessary; including masks and social distancing - measures based on scientific data to slow the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 virion attached to water droplets that are exhaled from an infected person's lungs. The data regarding SARS-CoV-2 places it in the same category as other Coronaviruses, but with a strong affinity to attach via the ACE2 enzyme (a receptor) in humans. Increased virulence is not just innate to the Virion and its attack vector: as I said, symptom variation and longer incubation period causes higher transmission rates because the host is often unaware they are even carrying the virus. Anyone with genuine understanding of virology will recognise the complications that arise form SARS-CoV-2, and why it is not like influenza in severity with regards to the health of the world population, and why it is being strictly controlled by all governments across the globe - politically allied and otherwise.
They even go so far as to have established an 'airline' to circumvent medical checks and restrictions - essentially allowing what they describe as 'free travel' - spreading the virus and putting lives at risk. I think it is starkly ironic that many of the followers believe this is a "conspiracy" for governments to gain control, population control, and such; especially when you look at it in reverse - sure does look like she's trying to cause more deaths of vulnerable, disadvantaged people.

What is this, a fucking Science Fiction? I genuinely do not have words to describe how ignorant and mentally challenged these people are. Actually, Judge for yourself. I am not spending any more of my time addressing this bullshit. I'm not even going to address some of the actually valid arguments on the questions about human rights and freedoms, that are brought up by government-imposed restrictions, because of the way this garbage is presented.
However, if you think I will back down from a logical debate if challenged, you're wrong. Come at me.
