An Old-Federal Era ruined MPR (Macropolymer Residue) handling plant located in the Old Earthway Sector Industrial District.

(Location) Earthway Industrial District MPR Plant

Macropolymers are artifical/synthetic materials similar to advanced plastics that the Old Federation used trillions of tons of at its height in ~ 3800 A.D. When Macropolymers are created using macromolecular engineering / chemical proessing, they create a toxic/caustic waste product called Macropolymer Residue, or sometimes known as Macropolymer Runoff.

This material is caustic/toxic but can be further refined into additional products like late-stage polymers or certain types of high density polymers made from ultra compacted MPR. This plant was responsible for handling the waste biproducts of nearby Macropolymer fabrication plants, and processing it, refining it into either usable products, or volatile waste.

The waste at this plant could be further refined in a stage 4 plant in a lower tier, so all the stage 3 MPR was stored in huge vats after processing. The MPR plant also fabricated the stage 2/3 products here which are mostly high density macropolymer ingots (blocks ready to be cut/shaped in manufactuering) which were loaded onto huge trucks on the highway and shipped to industrial areas for use. Alternatively, they were shipped by rail in the Earthway Industrial complex for internal use in nearby factories.

During the Aftershock and the subsequent Fall of the UTN, the Earthway Industrial MPR Plant suffered extensive damage to essentially all critical areas, the most notable of which was the storage vats containing the toxic MPR waste. The vast and complex network of pressurised fluid pipes which was responsible for moving this waste was structurally compromised during the Aftershock tremors; resulting in enormous amounts of MPR being vented into the surrounding facilities and environment.

The extensive contamination of this area has resulted in a toxic, inhospitable atmosphere with many 'hotspots' that are corrosive enough to corrode metal in hours, and organic material in minutes. This has resulted in the MPR Plant's infamous reputation among survivor groups as a 'no-go' zone, and as such, has been relatively untouched by scavengers and looters.
